Applications for Charityworks Fast Track 2024 are now open. Please apply here.
The Charityworks Fast Track is designed to give talented BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) applicants a top-class development experience to prepare them to launch a career in the non-profit sector alongside a fast-track to the Charityworks Programme. For more information about the Fast Track please click on the tabs below.
After applying to the Fast Track, with our shorter 2-question application form, successful applicants will be invited to take part in a professional development experience as an offer ahead of the fast-tracked assessment. Here you’ll get a chance to grow your skillset and understanding of the non-profit sector and develop new skills for your career development. This offer will take the form of a virtual half-day development session to help candidates prepare for the final stage assessment activities for Charityworks
For Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants
According to the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) just 5.3% of charity chief executives are from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background. The Charityworks Programme aims to bring the best people into leadership roles in the sector, and we want to tackle this lack of representation for the good of the sector and all those who are dependant upon it.
Charityworks actively seeks and encourages applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds. More specifically, our equal opportunities and diversity monitoring has indicated that the programme itself currently marginally under-represents minority ethnic groups and so we actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from a BAME background.
We’re continuing to strive to ensure the sector reflects the diverse communities that it serves. When we launched our campaign for diversity in 2018, just 7% of our trainees were from a BAME background. Now, after just 4 years, that figure is more than 35% and rising. Therefore, the Charityworks Fast Track exists to encourage, support and develop more top-class talent from a BAME background to enter the sector and gain access to acclaimed leadership development opportunities through Charityworks.
The programme is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and is a form of positive action. For more information on our approach to diversity, and the reasons for developing the Fast Track, click here.

The Charityworks Fast Track exists to encourage, support and develop more top-class talent from a Black Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background to enter the sector and gain access to acclaimed leadership development opportunities through Charityworks. We appreciate that the term BAME can encompass many different ethnicities but usually covers those individuals that define into the following groups:

Any other Asian background
Black / African / Caribbean / Black British

Caribbean
Any other Black / African / Caribbean background
The Charityworks Fast Track exists because our equal opportunities and diversity monitoring indicated that the programme itself currently marginally under-represents minority ethnic groups. This could be due to a number of factors, including cultural, societal, academic and bias-related. When self-identifying your ethnicity, if you are unsure if you are eligible, do think about the aims of the programme which exists as a form of positive action to support those who are under-represented and if this could apply to you.

Ability to competently use basic IT software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office or equivalent), which may include any adaptations/adjustments as required.*

If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact info@charity-works.co.uk
I want to be considered for the main Charityworks Programme starting in September 2023. Do I need to apply to this separately?
There’s no need to – no. The application process for the Fast-Track is a shorter and more direct route to the Charityworks Programme. If you are successfully invited onto the Fast-Track you will automatically be taken to the final stage assessment activities for the graduate programme during the development experience in the summer.
